Goldbacks are a novel form of currency that blends the timeless value of gold with the practicality of paper money. Unlike traditional currency, which is often made from a mix of cotton and linen, Goldbacks are crafted from a thin layer of 24-karat gold, 1 Goldback contains 1/1000 troy ounce of pure gold.

The Arizona 1 Goldback – Temperantia (Temperance) honours the virtue of balance and harmony, set against the desert landscape of southern Arizona in the early 1800s. Reflecting the Mexican era of Tubac, it captures a period of renewal and resilience following Mexico’s independence from Spain in 1821.

In the background rises Mission San José de Tumacácori, founded in 1691 by Jesuit missionary Eusebio Francisco Kino. As one of Arizona’s oldest missions, it remained a centre of faith and culture even through hardship and frontier challenges. Nearby Tubac, established as a presidio in 1752, symbolised Mexico’s enduring commitment to community on the northern frontier.

At the centre stands a regal woman in a richly embroidered 19th-century Mexican dress, representing the union of Indigenous, Spanish, and Mexican traditions. Around her, desert life thrives: the saguaro blossom, cactus wren, and two-tailed swallowtail embody resilience and grace, while a desert tortoise and javelina at her feet speak of endurance. Corn, chiles, and prickly pear celebrate the land’s bounty and the families who nurtured it.

Above, a Harris’s hawk soars through vast skies, symbolising clarity and self-control. Together, Tumacácori and Tubac stand as lasting reminders that faith, community, and moderation sustain the spirit—guided by Galatians 5:22–23: “The fruit of the Spirit is temperance.”

These Goldbacks are produced in the United States, It is not legal tender, but it is recognised as a form of payment in certain states within the US.

These unique foil notes allow you to own Gold in a more convenient and affordable way. They are verified through rigorous testing by the manufacturer Valaurum and independent laboratories. The goal is for people to be able to pay for anything with the Goldback, making it an innovative form of currency.
