Goldbacks are a novel form of currency that blends the timeless value of gold with the practicality of paper money. Unlike traditional currency, which is often made from a mix of cotton and linen, Goldbacks are crafted from a thin layer of 24-karat gold, ½ Goldback contains 1/2000 troy ounce of pure gold.

The Arizona 1/2 Goldback – Fides (Faith) celebrates the enduring light of belief that guided Arizona’s earliest spiritual pioneers. Set beneath the gleaming towers of Mission San Xavier del Bac, the design pays tribute to the Spanish missionaries who, in the 17th and 18th centuries, crossed the rugged desert to establish missions that nurtured faith, community, and cultivation across the Southwest.

At its heart stands a graceful young woman, embodying Fides, or Faith. Inspired by classical Marian devotion, she holds a lit candle, symbolising the steadfast light carried by the missionaries. Her traditional Spanish gown and cross pendant honour Arizona’s Catholic heritage, while her calm expression conveys devotion and quiet strength.

Surrounding her, the Sonoran Desert teems with life: blooming cactus flowers, a roadrunner, an elf owl, and a desert spiny lizard, each representing resilience in a harsh yet beautiful landscape. A lemon tree beside her nods to the missionaries’ agricultural legacy, where citrus orchards once thrived.

Above, white doves take flight, emblematic of peace and the Holy Spirit, while the radiant San Xavier del Bac, the “White Dove of the Desert,” rises behind her—a symbol of Arizona’s enduring spiritual roots and the guiding truth from Psalm 27:1: “The Lord is my light.”

These Goldbacks are produced in the United States, It is not legal tender, but it is recognised as a form of payment in certain states within the US.

These unique foil notes allow you to own Gold in a more convenient and affordable way. They are verified through rigorous testing by the manufacturer Valaurum and independent laboratories. The goal is for people to be able to pay for anything with the Goldback, making it an innovative form of currency.
